St. Mary’s Building Update

After eight years of planning, St. Mary’s School has settled on a plan to address their much needed facility improvements - purchasing a portion of the current Owatonna High School. The plan is contingent on the voters of Owatonna approving a $128.5 million bond referendum that would, among other things, include building a new high school. Should that happen, St. Mary’s would purchase a portion of the existing high school and relocate to that site, possibly as early as 2011.

This plan was approved by the St. Mary’s building committee and school board, leadership of both parishes, as well as by Bishop Harrington and the College of Consultors. Why purchase OHS you may ask? Why not stay at our current site and remodel and add-on? There are many reasons and explanations for this plan, and we have tried to address all of those in the following documents:
